I am able to walk, but I need to find a place with no stairs, and I’d love to have a garden for the kids, or be really close to the park. There doesn’t seem to be any handicap access filter on the search engines I am looking at, and all of the places seem to be mulit level homes. ANy tips? We’re moving this fall, and have some friends that are looking at the Woodford area.
Thanks!
I disagree with the first answer, your friend must just have bad luck. I have lived in London for years and nothing of that sort has ever happened to me, not even close. Nothing like that has ever happened to my parents or my siblings or anyone I know. Bad things do happen, just like in any other city. There is no big bad monster with knifes and guns coming to kill you in London and I think people with that mindset just attract those things to them.
Anywho, there are plenty of places in London with just a ground floor. I’ve never heard of Woodford and I can’t find where that is on google either. I think the Wimbledon/Richmond area would be absolutely perfect for you. Like every area in London there are lots of houses with just one floor. Richmond upon thames is one of the safest boroughs in London, people are very friendly and is amazing for bringing up children. What I recommend you doing is contacting an estate agents in London first from the states, explaining your situation and they’ll be able to help you. Sometimes the internet is not always helpful. Im not what way will be easier for you but I would just buy a call card or use skype.
The best estate agents are foxtons, Kinleigh Folkard & Hayward, Haart, Winkworth, Uniplan or Acorn. If you want to try looking yourself online aswell, primelocation, trovit and rightmove are very helpful websites. Try looking for houses with just one floor, split level and maisonette.
Good luck!
